  1. Yes this is a wicked album, both for Sleepy Wonder's vocals and Wackies excellent riddums.....Bullwackie does not hold his early 90's albums in any near the high regard as his seminal 70's and 80's roots recordings, but compare them to what else was being released at the time, and hear how dope they are! If you dig this, check for Wackies' "Best of Sat. Night Vol I & Vol II", some of my favorite digikal reggae ever, w/ Junior Demus, Sugar Minott, and alot of people trying to sound like early Buju over tough Wackies digi riddums.....

  4. Indeed Mush, these tunes are not as profilic as his roots work, but again, wackies knows how to create a special and recognisable sound like he did on his roots productions.

  6. Sleepy is a well-known figure here in DC. He has been in the studio working with Thievery Corporation, See-I (I believe?) and Fort Knox Five. He is pure fire pon di mic, and I was lucky enough to play alongside him for New Years Eve - grand opening of Patty Boom Boom in DC. He was amazing with the Versions I would play... he knew nearly EVERY tune I played version of, and if you weren't in the booth, you'd have no idea it was Version + Sleepy singing live.

  7. I'm a huge fan of reggae music, but I haven't had the chance to know many artists of the genre,so I'm kind of getting up-to-date right now. Thank you so much for your wonderful blog. Keep it up.
